WHERE YOU END UP

They say it’s not where you start out, but WHERE YOU END UP,
And how you get going, when the going gets tough.

So what, you were born on the wrong side of town,
Dealt a poor hand, when the chips were down.

And no one gave you a fighting chance,
Saying you’re just a victim of circumstance.

Well, in the school of hard knocks, things against you are stacked,
Sometimes you’re without a leg to stand on and one arm tied behind your back.

The valley is a distance, but please don’t stop,
As there’s so much more on the mountaintop.

Okay, so you are on the bottom rung,
But guess what, the fat lady has not yet sung.

Your story is far from over my friend,
It’s a choose-your-own-adventure, so make up the end.

You’ve got one arm… pull yourself higher, fight tooth and nail,
On wards and upwards though sometimes you fail.

Knocked down nine times, so get up ten,
Missed the mark, then try it again.

Life gave you lemons then make lemonade.
It’s not the cards you have, but how they’re played.

Keep showing up; keep working away,
Step by step and day by day.

Soon you’ll see you’re better than before,
You’re faster, stronger, smarter, and more.

Now you can do things that you just couldn’t do,
You practice and suddenly you know Kung Fu.

So raise the bar, improve yourself,
Your children’s children will share in the wealth.

Never give up, keep trying and trying,
Get busy living while everyone’s dying.

And what other clichés will prove certain for you,
Trust and believe and your dreams will come true.

Now hold your head high, and this is my cheer,
Kudos… to WHERE YOU END UP from here.
