WHAT YOU’VE GOT

Can you be thankful for WHAT YOU’VE GOT?
Even, if it’s not a lot?

It’s tough to do in this comparison society,
With everyone chasing some sort of notoriety.

Whether it’s money, status, another score,
People continuously crave more and more.

But can you stop and appreciate WHAT YOU’VE GOT?
Those things you have seemingly forgot.

You woke up, you can laugh, and you have water to drink,
You have an opportunity to change and the ability to think.

And there’s someone who cares about your life,
Such as a friend, a family member, a husband, a wife.

I know it’s difficult to struggle and be thankful too,
But maybe you can be thankful for your struggle too.

It’s easy to get fixated on - I only have this,
Or I can only do that, or if only, I wish.

But possibly you’ve been given just enough,
If you had more, you’d be weighed down by stuff.

What will you do with WHAT YOU’VE GOT?
Will you put it to good use? Will you take a shot?

But my resources are few,
There’s not much I can do.

That’s okay - if you only have a little time,
Invest it in someone’s heart and mind.

If you only have a few words to say,
Say them to take someone’s pain away.

If you only have a couple dollars to share,
Share them to help those that need care.

If you only have the strength to stand,
Then stand to show the world you can.

You may not have as much as others,
But put on glasses with altered covers…

To view a different kind of thought,
That you can be grateful for WHAT YOU’VE GOT.
