OPTIMISM

OPTIMISM – it’s not about burying your head in the sand,
Then convincing yourself that everything’s grand.

Or ignoring what you see as reality passes,
By putting on a pair of rose-coloured glasses.

No, OPTIMISM is reflecting on each situation as it is,
But taking a mind-set that goes something like this…

I will not choose a pessimistic, negative stance,
I will view this problem as an opportunistic chance.

A chance to overcome, a chance to grow,
A chance to be better, a chance to know.

This is a test I intend to pass,
I see the water half full in that infamous glass.

For although there’s a cloud raining on my head,
It’s watering the plants that were almost dead.

Assuredly, once again the sun will shine,
And everything will turn out to be just fine.

It’s about searching for the best in the very worst,
Applauding the effort though you didn’t come first.

OPTIMISM can be extremely contagious,
Making the fearful completely courageous,

And it can penetrate even the darkest of night,
Shining hope on things with the brightest of light.

OPTIMISM might not be something you come by naturally,
Thankfully it can be learned and honed quite accurately.

It may be tough to get it going, but once it’s moving it won’t stop,
It takes people from the bottom, by showing them the top.

Then cheering onwards, upwards - be your biggest fan,
Like the little engine that could… repeat… ‘I think I can, I think I can’.

And there are those that will try to put OPTIMISM down,
They’re not that convincing with their off-putting frown.

Don’t listen to the critics, surround yourself with positive people,
Those who want things to get better, doing good instead of evil.

Yes, turn away from the direction of the negative schism,
And walk along the fruitful road of joyful OPTIMISM.
