I CAN’T
I CAN’T – if you believe it, then it’s true
If you say it enough, it becomes a part of you.
It’s known by many small phrases,
Which keep you stuck in common places.
Like ‘I’m not good enough, I’m not smart enough, I’m not big enough, I’m not strong enough’.
Enough is enough.
You see, this mentality wasn’t there when you were little,
Between there and here, you learned it in the middle.
Maybe from a parent that didn’t give much love,
Maybe from a teacher that didn’t think much of…
You - because you weren’t the best at math, or singing, or when you ran,
However, the one who succeeds at all of these, is the one who thinks ‘I CAN’.
So drop the weight of the apostrophe T,
And change the way that things will be.
Speak to yourself in the depth of your mind,
Chanting ‘something amazing will happen this time’.
Shower yourself with positivity,
And elevate the frequency of your energy.
Is it easy? No.
Is it possible? Yes.
And there it is, just turn No into Yes,
It will invariably bring out your best.
I can take it. I can fake it, until I can make it.
Don’t give in to the sense of doubt,
Trust that your struggle will all work out.
I can endure, I can I’m sure,
I will not succumb to temptation’s lure.
Stay focused and determined when things around you waiver,
Hang on to your conviction, your foundation, and your Saviour.
Speaking of which, sometimes things are in God’s hands,
And you have to wait for the timing of His plans.
Take this test as a challenge to fulfil,
See if you can sit there long enough, submitting to His will.
At times when you think ‘I can’ - you’ll be all alone,
Just like the inventors of the airplane and the telephone.
For I CAN’T is a poison that spreads like wildfire
Robbing lots of people of their purpose and desire.
So remove the words from your vocabulary,
Be brave and bold, in the face of something scary.
Tell fear farewell, and worry goodbye
They’re both a waste of being alive.
And thank you, for your attention to this rhyming rant,
About breaking free and shrugging off the worthless thought ‘I CAN’T’.
