I HAVE A PROBLEM

I HAVE A PROBLEM – and it’s hard to admit,
But I’ve been struggling so much trying to overcome it.

It is like a razor-sharp, twisted thorn in my side,
And it’s become so painful that it’s too hard to hide.

Can I solve this deep-rooted issue?
Or do I just give up and grab myself a tissue?

No - I can’t quit it’s not who I am,
I have to get with a winning program.

Yes, I HAVE A PROBLEM… so what do I do?
The answers are out there but I need a clue.

So, I will look to those who’ve had success,
Those who’ve made their way out of a mess.

For they’ve used a more cultivated type of thinking,
That brought them above it, instead of sinking.

I HAVE A PROBLEM… here’s how I solve ‘em –

1. I must define it; then I must refine it.

2. Next I analyze it and summarize it.

3. Then I map out a series of possible solutions,
That are practical and tangible, not grandiose delusions.

4. I evaluate and calculate they best possible one,
And execute it, with contingencies, until it is done.

5. Still if that doesn’t work then I just try Plan B,
And don’t let the process get the better of me.

6. I apply to my blueprint the knowledge I have,
And seek out what I don’t know to fill in the gaps.

I HAVE A PROBLEM – what is yours?

Perhaps, you’re an addict?
Or your mood’s too sporadic?

Maybe you work at a job that you hate?
Or despite lots of trying you can’t find a mate?

Possibly generations of your family have lived in poverty and debt?
They were never able to escape a defeatist mind-set?

There are many things that can stand in your way,
But keep working to go around them day after day.

For perhaps the problem has been given to you,
So you can come up with a one-of-a-kind breakthrough.

Something no one has ever thought of before,
That will help those around you and many more.

Conceivably your problem will teach you that you need others to solve it,
Or it will take the way you used to think and grow and evolve it.

Whatever the issue I hope you get to the bottom,
And claim ‘I now have a solution’, instead of I HAVE A PROBLEM.
